Throw in craft made pastries that will make you feel like skipping salads soups and main courses and you have a Triangle gem moderately priced. Try the Chicken Verde soup and Short Rib sandwich and you ask yourself 'why didn't I try this sooner!'

My wife and son and I ate here four times over this past weekend, in part because it was so convenient to where we were going, but also because of the food and service. Ordering your food at the counter gives it a nice casual feeling. I also like not having to pay after eating. The food is great, and they’re really friendly folks.

A true gem of a restaurant in Durham, NC. In a city with an abundance of truly exceptional dining options that make "foodies" swoon, it is a real feat to rise above other great restaurants. Yet that is exactly what owner Laura Hall and her team at the Refectory Cafe have done in Durham, NC. From the moment you are greeted at the door you feel like a long time friend to Laura. She knows her regular customers...their names, their favorite dishes, their seating preferences...

Terrific meal! Great fish special: halibut. Great service! We are gluten-free and almost keto and we had no trouble finding excellent choices on the menu. Service was prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly. Couldn't have been better.

This restaurant delivers. Our new favorite place. Delicious food, beautifully prepared with excellent service. Their desserts are a must. We are from the Pinehurst area but have found nothing like this restaurant in the area. I can’t imagine a trip to Durham without a visit to The Refectory
